Welcome to Flying Circus Military Antiques. I created this online store because I occasionally come
across military antiques on my travels or acquire many items as part of collections that I do not personally
collect. I am a professional historical researcher and work via various archives around the world. I have written
several books on Western Allied Airborne and Special Forces history and material culture. This includes things
such as equipment, uniforms and insignia. I have been collecting militaria since the late 1970s. Originally my
interests were in Air Force-related items. That changed to pre-1918 British and American Long Guns. At present,
I still have an interest in Airborne and Special Forces items but spend most of my time conducting research.

I have no clue about this one. This came with a collection of badges to a fellow who served with the 72nd CEF Battalion in WWI. It is made like some WWI insignia used by Canada, Australia, Britain. I originally thought Tunnellers but have not been able to confirm. The document is a drawing for the 2nd Canadian Tunnelling Company Patch. Anyway?If you know what it is, could be a bargain or ? 35.00 $ (US)
A very RARE original photo of former Sergeant John R. Brown. He died in 1909. What is interesting is this photo was taken in Canada. He wears the Crimea Medal, Turkish Crimea and the Canada General Service Medal. He was in the 34th Oshawa Infantry Company and earned the 1866 Fenian Raid bar. 75.00 $ (US)
CRIMEA MEDAL - SEBASTOPOL Bar to Joseph Bailey of the 90th Foot. He is also entitled to the Indian Mutiny Medal without bar. He was wounded in India at the Battle of Bithoor on 16 August 1857. Royal Armoured Corps Plastic Cap Badge and 4th Armoured Brigade Patch from Sergeant Kenneth Morris of their HQ. The photo of Morris is an electronic copy. The original was lost by the people I bought these from originally. 135$ (US) SOLD!!!

WWII Medal Grouping to Sergeant G.D. Clowes of the 4th Queens Hussars and 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. Includes German souvenir pith helmet shields and Italian 8th Bersaglieri pith helmet badge. Clowes acquired the Italian badge at Tobruk where the 8th B. were nearly wiped out. Also includes strange 1st Armd Div embroidered patch with what appears to be a football stuck to its horn? Also an EXTREMELY RARE ID bracelet with a metal rendition of a Cruiser Tank on it. He never put his name to it. On enquiry to British tank museums no one has seen one of these before. The rear fender of the tank has come loose (hence string) but easily repairable. The only item added to the lot is the 4th Queens Hussars Cap badge. I have no clue if it is good or a restrike? 500$ (US)
Medal Bar of Chief Machinist Oswald Frentz of the SMS Nautilus. Frentz served as a combatant in the Boxer Rebellion in China and during WWI. During WWI he served in the North Sea on the Mine layer SMS Nautilus and later during the Finnish Civil War on the refitted SMS Nautilus that became a Special Amphibious Landing Ship for operations at Helsinki and along the Finnish Baltic coast. An exceptionally rare combination of medals to an unusual naval unit. Only issue is the fourth and fifth medal from the left have become loose from the bar- easily fixed. The one photo shows the SMS Nautilus at Helsinki in 1918. 1200$ (US)

Nice, Royal Flying Corps wing from the estate of Lt. (retired Acting/Lt. Col.) Henry Daniel Lysons. Lysons father was a Victoria Cross winner in South Africa in the 1870s. Lysons joined the Royal Garrison Artillery in 1916, served in France and then, between 1917 and 1918 was a pilot in the Royal Flying Corps. He returned to the RA and finished the war operating in France with the Air Ministry. He later served in Iraq, India between 1919 and 1937 and was recommended a DSO for his actions at Dunkirk with the RA. Instead, he was MID. He served in Greece and N. Africa until the conclusion of WWII. 450.00$ (US) SOLD !!!!

Exceptionally rare WWI US Air Service Pilots wing by Bailey Banks and Biddle. Mothing to wool background but otherwise intact. Other examples of this wing seem to have the entire wool background eaten away. I suppose the wool by BB&B was particularly tasty? 1500.00$ (US) SOLD !!!!!
